One man’s trash is another man’s treasure….
The annual Village Wide Yard Sale offers the opportunity to profit from a little “spring cleaning” or pick up a needed item at a bargin price. If you are hosting a yard sale be sure to let the Chamber know and we will add you to our Yard Sale Treasure Map.

The Yard Sale will be followed by a "Special Trash Pick-up Day: June 7th. Items left by the curb will be removed.

Chamber of Commerce donates "Pet Waste Stations"

The Hammondsport Chamber of Commerce appreciates the good work that the Town of Urbana and Village of Hammondsport do in maintaining our recreational areas. We all enjoy our parks and local business owners also appreciate their value in attracting visitors and new residents. So, we've offered a little help.

Occasionally, pet owners forget to pick up after their pets. Pet waste in our parks is unsightly, unpleasant, and unhealthy. We beleive pet owners are generally responsible folks and, given the opportunity, they'll do the right thing. Therefore, the Chamber of Commerce has offered to donate "pet waste stations" for three local parks: Hammondsport's Village Square; Depot Park; and Champlin Beach. These stations will include signage, pet waste bags, and dispensers. Perhaps this won't eliminate the problem, but we feel these stations will reduce the problem, the same way that supplying garbage cans reduces litter.

Village Elections

Village Elections will be held Tuesday March 16, 2010 at the Fred and Harriet Taylor Memorial Library, 21 William Street, Hammondsport, NY, from noon until 9:00 pm.

Vote for two (2) Trustee positions for a term of two (2) years each:

Hammondsport Real Property Taxes

Village of Hammondsport Real Property Taxes can be paid in two installments with the first installment totaling one half of the total tax due beginning March 1 and the second installment totaling one half of the total tax due beginning July 1. First installment must be paid by June 30 to allow for two installment payments. If first installment is not paid by June 30, standard payment plan exists. Penalties and collection dates as follows:

First installment, one half total tax due: Penalties due and payable on first installment amount only.
March 1—March 31 No Penalty
April 1—April 31 5% Penalty
May 1—May 31 6% Penalty
June 1—June 30 7% Penalty

Second installment, one half total tax due: Penalties due on second installment amount only.
July 1—July 31 No Penalty
August 1—August 31 5% Penalty
September 1—September 30 6% Penalty
October 1—October 31 7% Penalty

Recycling Glass Containers...

The Village Clerk would like remind everyone that we are now required to separate "green" and clear glass items and place them in different bins. The recyclers can no longer pick up glass that is not separated.

The website serves as a virtual "Village Clerk's Office", open 24/7. Village codes, downloadable forms, schedules, minutes and documents are now easily accessable.
