When you are getting ready to leave the area for an extended amount of time please let the Village Clerk know your new address. The water bills are not forwarded, therefore to avoid a late fee the Village must have a current address. Please call the Village Clerk at 569-3700 or stop in at 18 Water Street

Dog Waste Bags Available

Thanks to the Chamber for supplying dog waste bags located at Depot Park, Champlin Beach and soon at the Village Square.

School is in session - Please Drive Carefully!

Children began going back to school on September 7. This is the first year that there will be no children at the Curtiss School therefore additional traffic will be heading to the Main Street school. Please drive carefully and keep a lookout for children crossing the streets and getting in and out of vehicles.

DPW Announcements

The DPW will be flushing fire hydrants on Monday, September 13 and Tuesday, September 14.

Leaf pick up will be from October 20 through November 22.

Sidewalk update: 1,475 feet of sidewalk was replaced this summer.

Hammondsport Receives National Honor

Glenn H. Curtiss Memorial Elementary School in Hammonmdsport is one of 304 National Blue Ribbon Schools this year.
The U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced the recognitions, Thursday, Sept. 9. All the schools (254 public and 50 private) will be honored at an awards ceremony, Nov. 15 and 16, in Washington D.C.
Superintendent Kyle Bower said this is the first year Hammondport was named a Blue Ribbon school.
“It’s the result of hard work over many years,” he said. “Staff, parents, and the community are meeting the needs of students.”
Bower added Hammondsport was honored despite a decrease in enrollment over the last five years. He explained this means teachers can give more individual attention to students.
